Le film des instants ou la retenue des choses en leur état latent : un film choral proposé par Frank Smith

J’ai proposé à 52 personnes de filmer avec un smartphone pendant une minute, chacune depuis la fenêtre de son lieu de confinement, dimanche 29 mars, sur la tranche 12:00-12:53.
En résulte LE FILM DES INSTANTS : un film choral qui dit ce que chaque maillon de cette chaîne collaborative voit, à midi, à sa fenêtre.
Il expose et questionne quelle perspective restreinte s’offre à nous désormais. Une singulière vision du monde, qui en traverse la surface — la seule qu’il nous soit autorisé de disposer ? À toute fenêtre correspond un cadre, comme unité de mesure et délimitation visuelle, qui indique implicitement ici la position des 53 contributeurs réunis par un lien temporel dans un mouvement solidaire.

Chaque épisode de ce film permet au spectateur de rester présent « ici », avec son corps, tout en se rendant, de façon désincarnée, « là-bas », de Paris à Beyrouth et de New York à Rome, en des endroits où seul peut parvenir le regard, « là-dehors » où nous ne pouvons plus présentement nous rendre ou aller.

I proposed to 52 people to film with a smartphone for one minute from the window of its containment area on Sunday March 29th on the 12:00-12:53 PM slice.
The result is THE FILM OF MOMENTS: a choral film that tells what each link in this collaborative chain sees, at noon, at its window. It exposes and questions what restricted perspective is now available to us. A singular vision of the world, which crosses the surface — the only one we are allowed to have? To every window corresponds a frame, as a unit of measurement and visual delimitation, which here implicitly indicates the position of the 53 cameramen united by a temporal link in a movement of solidarity. Each episode of this film allows the spectator to remain present « here », with his body, while going, in a disembodied way, « over there », from Paris to Beirut and from New York to Rome, to places where only the gaze can reach, outside where we can no longer go or go at the moment.
